청음 능력은 뮤지션들이 연주와 작곡을 할 때 음악을 "미리 들을 수 있게" 해주는 필수적인(그러나 때때로 무시되고 있는) 기술입니다.
이 독창적이고도 현대적인 교본은 로스엔젤리스에 위치한 저명한 Grove School of Music의 초보자부터 현역 프로 연주자들까지의 수백명 학생들이 사용하고 있는 교본이기도 합니다.
SOLFEG(도레미파..와 같은 계이름)를 사용해서 각 조성에서의 "상대 음계" 안에서 청음을 적용할 수 있게 구성되어 있습니다.

Level One에는 멜로디, 리듬, 인터벌, 베이스 라인 등을 청음하고 악보로 옮기는 방법과 3화음 및 간단한 프로그레션을 구별하는 방법 등이 다루어져 있습니다.
Level Two에는 3화음과 4화음 코드 진행, 조성 변화, 크로매틱 음정, 모달 스케일, 멜로딕 및 하모닉 스케일 등을 청음하고 악보로 옮기는 방법이 다루어져 있습니다.
