머리말 중에서
단순히 악보를 열심히 보는 것만으로는 초견을 제대로 할 수 없습니다. 청음, 하모니, 음악 리딩(악보 리딩이 아닌)은 진지한 기타리스트들에게 꼭 필요한 세 가지 훈련 과정으로 각각의 공부가 모여 하나의 큰 음악 공부가 됩니다. 음악 리딩을 통해 음악을 분석하는 법을 배우게 되고 청음 훈련을 통해 그 음을 연주하기 전에 머릿속으로 음을 듣게 되며 듣거나 연주하는 음정들을 악보로 옮길 수 있게 되고 결국에는 자신이 작곡한 음악을 악보로 옮길 수 있게 됩니다.
악보 초견은 음악을 아주 많이 접하고 배우면서 다양한 환경에서 연주해 보고, 지판을 공부하고, 기본적인 악보 읽기 훈련을 해 나가면서 얻어지는 부가적 혜택일 뿐 그 자체가 목적이 될 수는 없습니다.
이 책은 다양한 레벨의 기타 연주를 위한 음악 읽기를 다루고 있습니다. 기초적인 악보 보기에서 시작해서 고난도의 초견 개념으로 끝납니다. 편하게 앉아서 읽는 책이 아니라 보면대에 책을 제대로 놓고 열심히 연습하며 공부해야 하는 책입니다. 각각의 레벨을 제대로 마스터한 후에 다음 단계로 넘어가야 합니다.
최소 2년 이상 기타를 연주한 상태에서 아직까지 음악과 악보를 읽는 법을 제대로 훈련해 보지 않은 독자들을 대상으로 썼습니다.
